Something to brighten a grey day..

Hi there

What a cold miserable day it is today and as it's my day off I thought I show some summery baby cards I made.
The first three I made for Freddie my great nephew who was born back in the spring.
This was for my Mum to give. Rachel & Alex  hadn't decided on what to call the baby & Mum was impatient to give the card. So it had no name on it

made this one for My sister to give Rachel & Alex, as you can guess we all knew she was having a boy.
Both used downloads from the clipart fairy, along with ribbon, decoupage and embellishments from my stash.

The stork card was from us, I knew his name by the time I'd made the card, shame I didn't know the spelling, it should be Freddie...never mind it was  too late too change it.Don't know what happened to the photo, I must have squashed it somehow, lol...

I made this card back in May last year for a friend, using the same stork decoupage. It's an image which  I use quite a lot, I've had it for ages I think it was from Barbara Clooney, not sure though.

Would love to know what you think...if you pop by..

Hello again..I love fairies..

Thought I put up a fairy or 2, seeing as I've not posted for a bit. I love this fairy and found it very difficult to part with her, but as it was for my sister birthday, I let her  fly away.... sob sob...but I made myself a bigger one to keep....lol..in different colours I'll post her when I've taken a photo.  The gorgeous fairy is from Craft Creations Plus Enchanted CD, the artist is Linda Ravenscroft and I've just treated myself to the latest CD which is the POW on C&C.

I played around with the decoupage a bit and gave her lots of fairy dust in the form of crystal glitter and silver stickles. A bit fiddly in places but worth it I thought.
The gorgeous flowers were from Hobby House,  and I must admit I love them, added a bit of glitter to them as you do. Punched the leaves added more glitter.

The greeting I did on the pc on white card, cut the shape with my robo using a file that was a freebie from Birds Cards, I just changed the size and coloured  it using  dusty concord distress ink. Ribbon was white from stash, coloured with the same distress ink. Printed the backing paper which was a freebie from Making Handmade Cards,  I changed the colour a bit to match the card.

Thought I have a go at the following Challenges..
Magical Monday Challenge: Anything Goes
and
Flutter by Wednesday No 170

Hope you like it,..
Would love to know what you think...

One I made for my Mum..

Hello, to anyone that might pop by..

This was for Mums Birthday, although I made it before we went to Spain I didn't have a chance to post it. It's big, a large 8x8"card made from 2 A4 sheets, I used another Joanna Sheen Nostalgia decoupage sheet by Fay Whittaker, I love these, they are so pretty and easy to cut out. I used flower soft, guess where..lol..on the flowers and around the hats. Added some ribbon, glittered the flowers and leaves, matted the decoupage onto a lavender crinkle paper, then used a glue pad to stamp and glitter white card, punched along the side.  The greeting was printed, cut with a nestie and inked around the edges.

The insert is from a Bearly Mine Designs CD, I altered the size to fit the card, then mirrored the image so it could be used to print the verse on one side and somewhere for me to write on the other. Used a quickie glue pen and crystal glitter to highlight the leaves, the bows and around the oval.
Hope you like it...

Would love to know what you think...

Hello ...Me again

Thought I'd show the cards I made for my wonderful Mum and Mum in law for Mothers Day. Both are easel cards, the decoupage images I used were from Joanna Sheen Nostalgia by Fay Whittaker.
I really love these, they are so easy to cut out and look far better in real life.
The little girls were for Mum as she has 3 girls, and the boys for MIL as she has 2 boys, quite apt I thought.

A touch of crystal glitter on the dresses, red glitter on the bows, and red ultra fine flowersoft mixed with glitter around their hats. On the base I used some prima flowers distressed with Tim Holts ink. I know it looks cockeyed but it was just a very odd angle I took the photo, lol..

The base image is an insert from a disk by Donna at Bearly Mine designs, printed and decoupage, there are some lovely inserts on the cd, and wonderful service from Donna. By the way check out Donna's candy on her blog.

The story goes,I ordered the disk, about week later I still hadn't received it, so I got in touch with Donna who told me she'd posted it the day I ordered it, so it must have got lost in the post, without question she said she would send out another one to me..which I received within 2 days, guess what a few days later the original one she sent arrived,(it took almost 2 weeks to get here) I emailed her to let her know I'd received it, when I got home that night I had an email from her saying not to send it back and to keep it..but I'd already sent it back to her. I think I'll be buying more of her papers and inserts soon. Check them out here. As far as the post office is concerned well........... your guess is as good as mine as to where it was for 2 weeks..wasn't at the local sorting office as I phoned them to check.

Again on this one I used one of Donna's inserts, decoupaged it and used some small roses. The smaller image is the whole of the insert used on the card.

Oh guess what.... Whoopee.. I won the Ribbon Girls Candy,
thank you, gorgeous pink ribbons, some button & stamps all lovely, lucky me..

Would love to know what you think...

A Card for Tony

Hi there, me again...last year we celebrated our Ruby Wedding, this is the card I made for Tony.
Got the shape from watching Nancy Watt on C&C. It ended up quite large and heavy good job I could hand it to him. I used the silver foiled hunkydory card mated onto silver mirri board, then on black pearlised card. Made the clasp from the circle nesties, added some ribbon & pearls and punched the edge.

This is it closed.

On the inside I decoupaged the lady and glittered her up a bit, matted it onto silver mirri then on black pearl card, then onto more mirri, then some white pearl card finally onto black pearl card again....phew..see what I mean about heavy..lol..

On the base I printed the sentiment and cut using nesties, and more of the silver foiled card.

Apologises for the photo's seems like I can never get them right...

Tony liked it, hope you do too..

Hi there...

Hello to anyone that might pop by....thanks for coming...Well I love fairies, this fairy is from the Card Creations CD Enchanted, the image is by Linda Ravenscroft. Isn't she gorgeous..I played around with the colours a bit, till I got what I wanted,  this was so fiddly to cut out, it took me hours, lol...I've made a few others from the cd I'll post them another time, all very time consuming on the cutting out.... but I love the fairies, not keen on the cd's interface though a bit fiddly, it's much quicker to view the jpegs in a graphic program.

I decided I wanted to make a easel card, and I wanted it to be round... had fun trying to make a rectangular image fit in a circle..by doing this I have decided I really need the Grand Circle Nestabilities, anyone know if they will fit my big kick?
I'm hoping they will as I don't really want to pay out for another machine at the moment.

I  added some crystal glitter, a few charms and flowers, I printed the backing paper and mounted the image on some mirri board,

Hope you like it..Please let me know what you think.......

Now don't fall off your chairs!!!

I'm posting a card...I'm back to blogging. Just spent a couple of days, blog hopping and leaving some comments, wow...did I miss a lot, so many beautifull cards, so to all my blogging friends if I haven't visited you yet I'm on my way.

I have no idea where I got the image from, but I thought she was such a pretty lady so I could bling her up a bit, 8" square cream pearlised card, so it was quite a large one. Love these papers, been waiting to find an image to use with them, charms, ribbons, pearls etc from stash, used an ink pad on the flowers to distress them a bit and gave her a little feather in her hair.

Well there is a first time for everything...Joanne a blogging friend of mine has just started a new challenge blog over at ....Craft Your Days Away, I thought it was about time I entered a challenge....then thought well in for a penny...I may as well enter a couple, so I hope I'm eligible to enter it into these..and that I've linked it right

Craft Your Days Away theme ... favourite things (vintage and charms)

Penny's Challenges #35 theme ... Anything Goes

Paperer play challenges theme ... 3Flowers, ribbon and a charm (Week 31)

Two for Tony

Here a couple of cards I made for my hubby.

I never know what to do for him, I was going through some cd's trying to find something suitable, and found this on Joanna Sheens Fashion Boutique, no it didn't remind me of Tony, but I thought it looked a bit like Sherlock Holmes, and seeing as Tony always watches the old TV series, I decided to use it. Printed off the topper a few times and cut up the images to decoupage it. Backing paper and lace is from Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen range.

This card was for our Anniversary,
words cut on Robo, hope you like them, he did...well he has to doesn't he..lol...

Thanks for looking, your comments are always appreciated

Disco Diva

A bit of a fun card this one. As soon as I saw this flippin woman I knew exactly who I was going to make a card for using it. Our friend Bev, we met her & her husband in a bar on top of a mountain in Austria, during a snow storm, not much skiing took place that afternoon but we found a friendship that has lasted about 15 years. The first time we went to a round table ladies night with them she wore a dress just like this. The image so reminds me of her except for the ponytail..she's always the life and soul of the party. She loved it and immediately saw the resemblance.

The decoupage sheet is from La Pashe Flippin Women, although it doesn't show too well I used black and crystal glitter on each fringe of the dress. The disco ball was also glittered, I found the ball and the background on google images.

I really can't get used to this new blogger, images won't go where I want them to, and can anyone tell me where the spell checker has gone, 'cos I can't find it anymore, preview is nothing like what appears on the page either, I'll try again but think I'll have to switch back to the old one...

Thanks everyone for popping by and for taking the time to leave your comments, I really appreciate them

Another one a bit different for me and I won some candy..

Hi everyone, I know it's been a while since I last posted anything, although I have been trying to keep up with everyone's blogs,.... if I haven't visited you yet I am catching up  slowly and I'll get there soon...

I made this for  Olivia, who loves drawing Manga characters, but as Ididn't have any Manga images I used the decoupage from a Rock Hard Fairies sheet, added a touch of silver stickles here 'n there and star dust on her wings. Printed the red sun burst and the greeting on photo paper, then used spray and sparkle over the greeting. Backing paper, black card and mirri paper all from stash. Coloured the little flower gems with permanent markers as I didn't have any black ones.
I know... I really should learn how to take a photo without making it look all wonky.
.
Hope you like it, Livvy did.

While I was trying to catch up I visited Jackie's blog Day's in the Life of...who is part of the LaPashe DT, saw there was a candy on offer, I quickly put my name down on Sunday, the draw was Monday and yippee I won it. Thank you so much Jackie and Jak. If you haven't visited Jackie before pop along to her blog to see her lovely cards and have a laugh at her posts about her granddaughter.
I received my candy today from Jak the Designer, you've probably all visited Jaks blog Crafters Kitchen  but if you haven't it's a must see, beautiful cards and lots of free downloads too, fabulous..and she is showcasing  some cards made with the new soon to be released sheets. I bought quite a few of the Remember when Christmas series last year, and love them now I can make more for this year, plus I won the whole set of the new Flippin Xmas, can't wait to have a play, if you want to have a chance of winning them Karen another DT member is offering candy till Sunday..I feel I'd be too greedy  to go and enter, but why don't you go and see if you will be as lucky as I was.

Thanks for popping by..I really appreciate it..

For KT's challenge

Well this is a first for me, as I never done a challenge before but I had to make an exception for this one. My blogging buddy Shells' little Katie wanted to set a challenge on her mum's blog. She provided us with a sketch and the theme was cute, cuddly and romantic...I don't normally do cute and cuddly so had to search for an image..found this one on GFC, printed it off a few times and decoupaged it up. Why not pop along to Shells blog and join in with KT's challenge. Good Luck with the challenge KT hope you get loads of entries.

Been slacking on the blogging again, I catch up,.. leave it for a few days, but as you all make such amazing cards and so many of them, it takes me hours and hours to look at them all, I intend to try and catch up again with everyone later this evening. I also want to say thanks to everyone for the lovely comments you left me on my previous posts.

A card at last..

Well I've finally got round to posting a card, lol.. I've nearly caught up on my blogging rounds, I've missed so much, wow you all make such beautiful cards. Here's a card I made for my niece Jessie, she has just graduated from Uni with a first class honours degree, I know she believes in fairies so I thought I'd make her a fairy card.

I've had the image for ages, found it somewhere on Google but don't know where. I think she's such a pretty fairy, I decoupaged her, (those circles were a pain to cut out), but I wanted the gold mirri card to show through them, matted and layered it, the backing paper is from a pad I bought at the range years ago, I loved the paper and couldn't part with it until now, lol..
Added a few roses and a charm. Jessie liked it,
Hope you do too

I have been so naughty

Sorry people, I've been an absent blogger for too long, no it wasn't my garden or all the building work we have going on at the moment, (the dust & mess everywhere is driving me mad), the only room I feel comfortable in at the moment is my craft/computer room, I have made a few cards just haven't got round to posting them, why you might ask, well I found facebook, then I found the silly little addictive games, then I found farm town...and I have been escaping into my little farm, where money is easy to earn, houses are easy to buy..and no dust or dirt..lol.
But its taken over my life and I've got to stop, so this weekend I intend to try and catch up with all my blogging, sorry for my lack of comments to you all, will try and get round to everyone this week, and I'll post some cards soon.
I hope when I do start posting you will be able to leave some comments as I've had to change the comments settings as I've had some Chinese site spamming my comments, masses of comments on every post I've made, so I've had to sit and delete them all, now I've turned on comment approval and only registered users can comment, hope it doesn't cause you problems. Catch up with you soon

19 June 2009

Hi everyone, a card and a few thank you's..

Well, I've just about finished catching up with all the blogs I follow... I hope....I am amazed at all the beautiful cards you make, it takes me forever to get to see them all and leave comments, so if I've missed anyone out, sorry. I haven't had much time to keep up with my commenting recently, so I have to read through all the posts comments just to see if I've already left one, and when some have hundreds of comments ...it takes me forever,.... if anyone know a quicker way of checking it out, please let me know I would be so grateful. The garden has taken over recently, I've nearly finished all the planting, digging, and cutting back, I've only got a bit more jet washing of the paving, then I can start enjoying it, that's if the weather gets better. Have been so lazy, instead of making cards in the evenings, I've just sat a watched TV, just not used to all that gardening, I've also got a pain in the neck (no not my hubby) so I can't sit at the PC or my laptop very long either, don't like this getting old....

A couple of Lovely Awards.... it's taken me a while to post about these.....

Nicola kindly gave me the Blog support award and Sassy the lemonade stand award, thank you ladies I appreciated them so very much. Most of you will already be followers of these two very talented ladies, but if you haven't visited their blogs recently please go and check them out, you won't be sorry, they are both amazing.

As I've already passed on the lemonade stand award and as I truly appreciate everyone who visits and leaves me such lovely comments I'm passing these onto all my blogging friends, so if any of you would like to accept theses awards with appreciation and love from me, please take them for your blog.

Here's a card I made very quickly a couple of months ago, I got a phone call from my nephew Joe to say he'd passed his driving test, he never told anyone he was taking it and passed first time. I was seeing him the next day so had to make a quicky card. I printed the words directly to the card using GCF, decoupage the car which was a La Pashe sheet, also decoupaged the torn L plate. And if you're wondering what the next big challenge is....inside it said .....paying for the insurance....
Would love to know what you think....

Joe's 21st

I find cards for men difficult at the best of times, and this one was for one of my very special nephews, Joe was 21 back in April, and I wanted something different for him, this is what I came up with, finished it at the last minute, and had to give it to him that evening, I've only just managed to borrow it back to get a photo of it.

The front.....
As a youngster Joe loved the Star Wars Movies, Tony & I used to take him to the West End to see the films when they were released, so I put a photo of him as a child into the banner as a character from Starwars. He's just bought himself a new Mini, so I used an online graphics program and put his photo on one, printed it off a few times then decoupaged it, with quite a lot of layers. All I needed was a background so put another photo of him on a graffiti wall. Mated and layered it all onto silver and black miri card.

At the moment Joe works in a pub and I need something for the inside of the card, I had two images in mind, but I couldn't decide which one to use, so I used both of them.
I decoupaged a barmaid from a sheet I had and on the other side I used one of the Flippin Men sitting on a beer barrel, which you could spin around to see his back.
I didn't like the checked cap on the man so coloured it using a felt tip. This was a big card, A3 folded, just trimmed down on the length a bit. Weighed a ton, good job I didn't have to post it.

Would love to know what you think...
